State Senator and Former Mayoral Candidate Sandra R. Williams Endorses Justin Bibb for Mayor

PRESS RELEASE - Thursday, Oct. 14, 2021 - Cleveland, OH – Former Cleveland mayoral candidate Sandra R. Williams, who has served Clevelanders as a parole officer, state representative and now state senator, endorsed Justin Bibb for mayor today.

“I am endorsing Justin Bibb because we need a mayor who is willing to do what it takes to move our city to the next level. Throughout the campaign, I talked about improving our educational system, attracting new businesses, growing economic development opportunities, and making sure our streets are safe,” said Senator Williams. “Although our paths to get there may be different, I believe that our agendas and vision for Cleveland align.”

Williams has spent three decades on the front lines in law enforcement and public service. She said Justin has demonstrated the ability to accomplish a lot in a short time, she noted, adding she looks forward to collaborating with him to make Cleveland safer and better.

“On the campaign trail, I heard Justin’s urgency and understanding of these issues,” Williams said. “I look forward to continuing the work for a better Cleveland.”

Justin accepted Senator William’s endorsement less than three weeks before Election Day.

“I’m deeply grateful to receive State Senator William’s endorsement today. Senator Williams has dedicated her life to improving education, fighting for a living wage and creating more opportunities for minority businesses. I will work with her as an ally and advocate to create a stronger relationship between City Hall and our state partners,” Bibb said.
